Our courses allow students to communicate fluently with native speakers in everyday situations, listen to courses in Russian, read texts without a dictionary, learn the basic grammatical categories of the language and master Russian at the A2-B1 level and above.

The Russian Language Centre at HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod was establish to offer extra professional education programmes in the field of foreign languages.
The Centre is engaged in teaching foreign students Russian language, helps them quickly master it, speak the language and successfully pass exams (TBL, TORFL I-IV)

COURSE Curriculum

The “Russian world in art” module introduces students to key works of literature, painting, music and architecture that reflect Russian culture and spiritual traditions. Within the topic, the influence of historical events and national worldview on the creativity of outstanding Russian artists, writers and composers is analyzed.

This module explores the deep foundations of the Russian national character through the lens of folk culture, Orthodoxy and philosophical thought. Listeners will trace how the key traits of the Russian mentality were formed.

This module examines calendar, religious and state holidays as a reflection of Russian mentality.

The continuity of generations

This module reveals the dynamics of intergenerational interaction in Russia. The contemporary Russian family: challenges and values. Major landmarks in Russia.
